Production Associate Sonoco Japan

Sonoco is hiring Production Associates to join its Kochi plant. This is a full-time, on-site manufacturing role suited for someone who is okay with working 2nd or 3rd shifts. You’ll be part of the production and packaging process — hands-on, physical work with a company that’s been in the business for over 120 years. This is a great role for someone with at least a year of manufacturing or factory experience, and who enjoys structured, team-based work. Hourly wage starts at ¥22.25 and includes overtime, insurance, and other U.S.-style benefits if you’re based there. Job Title

Production Associate I

Responsibilities

  • Inspect products and packaging materials during production
  • Keep equipment and workspaces clean and organized
  • Operate forklifts when required (training available)
  • Package, label, and palletize finished goods
  • Maintain records and follow safety protocols
  • Assist in basic machine maintenance and help train new hires
  • Support food safety procedures per FSMA guidelines

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work background
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing or factory experience preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with standard safety practices
  • Physically fit to stand, lift, and move materials throughout shift
  • Forklift experience a plus (or willingness to learn)

Applicant Location

The position is based on-site in Kochi, Japan. Shifts are on a rotation, so being flexible with working hours — including nights and weekends — is a must. Applicants must already be in Japan or legally able to work there. Local candidates are preferred.
