T&G Global Limited is after a crew of Casual Blueberry Harvesters to join their orchard in Kerikeri, Northland. This contract role kicks off right away, paying well for picking and weeding blueberries in the heart of the Bay of Islands. No experience is needed—full training is provided on the job. You’ll need to be comfy working outdoors in the sun and have your transport to get to the farm. It’s a casual gig, mostly Monday to Friday with the odd weekend, depending on the weather. T&G wants keen folks with a top attitude to dive into the horticulture world and help bring in the harvest.

Responsibilities

  • Pick ripe, juicy blueberries with care to keep them perfect.
  • Weed around bushes to keep the orchard tidy and plants healthy.
  • Sort picked berries to make sure only the good ones go to market.
  • Pop berries into buckets without squashing them.
  • Work in the sun or rain, as the weather calls the shots.
  • Keep your picking patch clean to avoid slips or crop damage.
  • Team up with the crew to hit daily picking goals.
  • Check berries for quality, like size and colour, before they head to the shed.
  • Report any pests or wonky bushes to the orchard boss.
  • Follow food safety rules to keep the fruit top-notch.
  • Help cart berries to the packing shed when needed.
  • Pitch in with small jobs like clearing debris or setting up picking stations.
  • Stay flexible for shifts that might include the odd weekend.
  • Keep your gear, like gloves or buckets, in good nick.
  • Lend a hand with end-of-day tidy-ups around the orchard.

Requirements

Education

No degree or certificate needed.

Experience

No prior horticulture experience required—training provided.

Skills

  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn on the job.
  • Decent fitness for standing, bending, and picking all day.
  • Keen eye for spotting ripe, quality blueberries.
  • Team spirit to work well with the orchard crew.
