Haul Truck Operator

Responsibilities

• Drive Komatsu 930E or CAT 789-C haul trucks to move coal or overburden safely.
• Check trucks daily—tires, brakes, lights—to keep them mine-ready.
• Load and haul material from excavators to dump points with precision.
• Log hours, fuel, and loads in paper or digital systems.
• Spot hazards and take steps to keep the site safe for everyone.
• Stick to Blackwater Mine’s safety and production rules like glue.
• Work with excavator crews to keep material moving smoothly.
• Report truck issues or incidents to supervisors on the spot.
• Handle 12.5-hour shifts on a 7/7 day-night roster, no slacking.
• Pitch in with minor maintenance like fluid checks or small fixes.
• Follow Queensland’s mining and road safety laws to the letter.
• Keep the cab clean and gear in top shape for the next driver.
• Join safety briefings and training to stay on top of skills.
• Adapt to changing pit conditions or weather on the fly.
• Support team efforts to hit production targets every shift.

Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• Proven experience operating Komatsu 930E or CAT 789-C haul trucks.
• Open-cut mining experience (preferred but not mandatory).

Skills

• Valid Queensland driver’s license with a clean record.
• Ability to handle heavy machinery in tough mining conditions.
