Crane Operator
Responsibilities
- Operate cranes ranging from 25T Franna to 300T All-Terrain models on various sites.
- Support shutdown operations across mining and infrastructure projects.
- Follow site-specific safety procedures and participate in toolbox meetings.
- Conduct pre-start checks and ensure equipment is maintained to operational standards.
- Assist with lifting, rigging, and general site support as required.
- Work collaboratively with site teams to meet project timelines.
- Adhere to company and client safety protocols at all times.
- Ensure compliance with load charts, lift plans, and site supervisor instructions.
- Maintain clear communication with rigging crews and site supervisors.
- Participate in continuous back-to-back shutdowns across multiple sites.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education & Licences:
- High Risk Work Licence (CN, C2, C6, C1, CO).
- VOC certifications for cranes operated (Franna, Slew, All-Terrain).
- White Card (Construction Induction).
- HR or HC Driver’s Licence.
- Working at Heights & Confined Space certification (valid within 2 years).
- Gas Testing Atmospheres & Basic Fire tickets.
- Rio Tinto VOC, Pegasus ID, FMG, and BHP SAP credentials are highly regarded.
- Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and drug & alcohol screening.
Experience
- 3+ years proven experience operating Franna, Slew, and All-Terrain cranes.
- Experience working on mine site shutdowns and large infrastructure projects.
Skills
- Strong understanding of lifting operations and safety procedures.
- Good mechanical knowledge of crane equipment.
- Effective communication skills in high-pressure site environments.
- Team-oriented approach with a focus on collaboration.
- Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and schedules.
- Attention to detail in completing safety checks and documentation.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with shutdown procedures in the mining sector.
- Understanding of site safety management systems (SMS).
- Competent in interpreting lift plans and site drawings.
- Awareness of industry compliance standards in WA.
- Knowledge of environmental and site hazard controls.
- Up-to-date with WA mining and construction site requirements.
