Responsibilities
- Set up and run woodworking machines for cabinet making.
- Use hand tools like planes, chisels, and files for precise work.
- Study blueprints to plan cutting and shaping steps.
- Mark out dimensions on timber or paper for accuracy.
- Trim joints to ensure a tight, clean fit.
- Bore holes for screws or dowels with tools or machines.
- Glue and clamp parts to build complete furniture units.
- Fix or adjust wooden components as needed.
- Keep work areas clean and tools in good nick.
- Follow safety rules and White Card requirements.
- Work with the team on big commercial projects.
- Check finished pieces for quality and fit.
- Help with site setup or material prep when needed.
- Report any tool issues to the supervisor quickly.
- Pitch in to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
Education
Trade qualification in carpentry, shopfitting, or cabinet making required.
Experience
2 years of proven experience delivering commercial carpentry projects start to finish.
