This full-time role is all about keeping the recycling plant humming, driving a front-end loader to sort through waste and help turn rubbish into reusable paper, glass, plastic, and metal. You’ll need a loader license with verification of competency (VOC), and a forklift ticket is a bonus. Loader Driver

Responsibilities

  • Drive a front-end loader to shift bales of recycling at the MRF.
  • Operate a forklift to move materials if you’ve got the ticket.
  • Bust up plastic waste bales with the loader for sorting.
  • Run daily prestart checks on the loader to keep it in top nick.
  • Grease up, clean filters, and blow out the loader’s engine area.
  • Fuel the loader when it’s running low.
  • Spot and report any dodgy gear or faults to the site boss.
  • Keep the work area safe and tidy to avoid any dramas.
  • Sort recycling like paper, glass, and metal to meet quality standards.
  • Work the night shift (9 pm–5 am) with flexibility for overtime or weekends.
  • Follow safety protocols to keep the plant running smoothly.
  • Help out with general MRF tasks when things get busy.
  • Keep an eye on fixed plant equipment for any hiccups.
  • Log your daily checks and tasks for the site records.
  • Pitch in with team efforts to hit recycling targets.

Requirements

Education

  • Loader license with verification of competency (VOC) (mandatory).
  • Forklift license (desirable but not essential).

Experience

  • Proven experience driving a front-end loader.
  • Background working around fixed plant equipment, like in a recycling or waste facility.

Skills

  • Solid fitness for operating heavy gear during night shifts.
  • Sharp focus to keep safety first in a busy MRF.
  • Team spirit to work alongside the night crew.
  • Reliable to rock up for 9 pm–5 am shifts, plus extras when needed.
  • Basic mechanical know-how for loader checks and upkeep.
  • Good communication to report issues or coordinate with mates.

Knowledge
